Psalm 33 reminds us that the world was made by God. It ushers us into praise of the Almighty Creator who breathes out stars and can contain an ocean in a jar! This God for whom nothing is impossible, whose plans stand forever, sees us. Almighty God focuses His gaze and watches you, considers what you do. He forms your heart. He will mold your inmost being. That stands in contrast with the physical power of armies and animals that we hail as powerful. For all the strength of things in creation, for all the strength of our systems and policies, for all the strength of our elected and appointed officials - they cannot save! "The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine" (vs18-19). He sees you. Almighty God sees us, and is our only comfort in and our only source of deliverance from all that is wrong in and with the universe.
Prayer - Almighty God, thank you for seeing us, for being with us, for your salvation offered us through Jesus Christ. In these difficult, tense days Lord, we wait in hope for you - the one who sees us. You alone, Lord, are our help and our shield. In you, El Roi, our hearts rejoice for we trust in your holy, all mighty, all sufficient name El Shaddai. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you. All our hope is always and only in you. Glory be to you Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - Hallelujah and Amen!
