Foundations Readings: May 18-22

It’s time to take our next step! While we continue to pray 15 minutes a day, we are also going to add a daily scripture reading. We’ve heard Jesus’ challenge to be in the word and building our lives on it. Let’s respond to His challenge by being in the word together and striving all the more to put it into practice.

As we read God’s word together apart, here’s our prayer:

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we pray, that we might be grounded and settled in your truth by the coming of your Holy Spirit into our hearts. What we do not know, reveal to us; what is lacking within us, make complete; that which we do know, confirm in us; and keep us blameless in your service, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please read the passage each day, and answer the question either in your own mind, discuss with your family, write in a journal, post a comment below, email RevKev, etc.

Ezekiel 36:25-27
If you think back to the Galatians 3: 26-4:7 reading what difference does this heart of flesh make? God brings about an incredible change, He makes us His children and heirs through Christ Jesus. The promise was found to be true because the Promiser is a sure thing!

Isaiah 44:3
Water in the desert… draws one’s mind to John’s baptism… and beyond to Jesus and His instructions on where to build… And of course the promise of scripture is starting to feel familiar… outsiders become insiders as they take the name Israel… declare themselves to be the Lord’s and find they belong as streams well up to life. HOPE is alive and well!

5-21-2020 – Ascension Day!
Acts 1:1-11
Jesus promised his disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came, and that as a result disciples would be witnesses. They had to wait after He left. We still wait. We wait for His return. What is our job in the meantime?

Isaiah 61: 1-3
Does your life attest to a crown of beauty, oil of gladness, garment of praise? How do you display God’s splendor?
